Introducing "Studies in Quarantine.”

In early March, we got the coronavirus. While bed-ridden for over a week, we were lucky to experience only some of the more mild virus symptoms. Within two weeks, we were feeling like our normal selves again. Well, sort of. With rising death counts and the prospect of an economic recession on the horizon, we had to find a way to occupy our minds and stay creatively engaged with our craft, and our film and arts community, even while sheltering-in-place. Like for most people, the lockdown compelled us to quickly reinvent and adapt the way we do things, so we embarked on a little adventure to make a short film about our friend, the wonderful artist and sculptor @RubySkyStiler, using only the remote tools at our disposal. The result of that effort is this short film, which offers a peek into @rubyskystiler’s path as an artist, her inspirations and work process, and the challenges of homeschooling her two children during this lockdown. But what we most like about this film is that it feels very positive and full of good humor (we have Ruby to thank for that!), and don’t we all need good art and humor during these very challenging and isolating times?

We have decided to continue this project as a video series we are calling "Studies in Quarantine.” Every couple of weeks for the remainder of this quarantine and post-quarantine, we will be sharing new pieces that examine how artists across disciplines are finding inspiration and staying creative during this period of isolation. We hope you will feel inspired, laugh, and possibly find yourself reflected in the struggles and stories of our protagonists.

Thank you for watching! :) And our biggest most special THANKS to @Rubyskystiler for bringing a sense of humor, care, and love of art to our days of isolation.
