"Franco's Head" is Editors' Pick in The Atlantic

Our short documentary "Franco's Head" ("La cabeza de Franco") has been selected for the Editors' Pick of The Atlantic, a curated showcase of short films selected by the editors of the prestigious The Atlantic digital magazine.

"Franco's Head" tells the story of Eugenio Merino, a Spanish artist who sparked outrage in his home country after creating a hyper-realistic sculpture of Francisco Franco. Franco, an ally of Hitler and Mussolini, was the dictator of Spain from 1939 until he died in 1975; during that period, his regime executed a countless number of political opponents. The satiric and very life-like frozen dictator sculptures created by Merino, uncover an oppressive legacy left behind by Franco and expose the country's contradictory interpretation of Freedom of Speech.
